Operating schedule
a) General - all four licensing objectives (b,c,d,e)
We will ensure that at least one member of staff present at organised events involving alcohol will hold a personal licence. It is likely that the Designated Premises Supervisor will also be present for most events. Safety of pupils is our key priority; we will not permit any activity which in our risk assessment suggests would be a potential for harm to children. We will not permit any adult themed activity which we assess as posing a risk of harm to children. We will ensure that we do not become a noise nuisance by taking appropriate measures. We conduct fire risk assessments as part of our normal school operation and will take steps to ensure we keep within our occupancy rates. Numerous litter bins ensures that litter will be minimised.
b) The prevention of crime and disorder
Whenever alcohol will be on sale there will be a member of staff present who holds a Personal Licence. This will ensure we comply with the appropriate legislation and regulations concerning the sale of alcohol. Alcohol will be sourced on a sale or return basis; this ensures that any alcohol not sold will not require storage on site. Staff will require any purchaser of alcohol to prove their age should they not appear to be over eighteen.
c) Public safety
The school has fire extinguishers and emergency lighting as part of the current fire precautions taken to ensure the safety of pupils, visitors and staff. Regular fire risk assessments are conducted and steps taken to ensure occupancy rates for areas noted in the school fire risk assessments are not exceeded. For licensed activities we will have monitoring in place to ensure occupancy rates are not exceeded (e.g) head count systems.
d) The prevention of public nuisance
The school is a non-smoking site. Numerous large litter bins are provided and the school has staff who collect litter. We will ensure where music is played that as far as possible doors and windows are closed to reduce noise nuisance. School discos currently have high staff presence and enjoy community police support to ensure no public nuisance happens.
e) The protection of children from harm
As a school protection of pupils is our top priority. Sale or return will be the preferred method of acquiring alcohol for sale on the premises which means we will not need to store alcohol on site. Where we do have alcohol on site (e.g) PTA functions, a securely locked store has been made available. We shall ensure that proof of age is required for any person whose age is not easily identifyable as being over 18. We will conduct risk assessments of all entertainment on site and will not permit adult themed entertainment that we assess as having potential risk to children.
