Operating schedule - General
There will be no changes to the operating style or procedures of the premises as a consequence of the variation sought and therefore existing management practices and premises licence conditions save as varied by this application will continue to operate to promote the licensing objectives.
1. The premises licence holder will ensure that all staff at the premises have been trained in accordance with established JD Wetherspoon plc training procedures. Specifically the premises licence holder will ensure that all employees who work front of house are trained in their responsibilities to prevent alcohol being served to anybody who is under the legal age limit or to anyone who appears to be drunk or to anyone who is trying to purchase alcohol on their behalf.
Prevention of crime and disorder
There will be no changes to the operating style or procedures of the premises as a consequence of the variation sought and therefore existing management practices and premises licence conditions save as varied by this application will continue to operate to promote the licensing objectives.
1. The premises licence holder will ensure that there are sufficient staffing levels including managers to encourage responsible behaviour on the premises at all times.
2. Non-alcoholic beverages including soft drinks, water, coffee and tea shall be available at all times sale by retail of alcohol is carried out on the premises.
Public safety

Prevention of public nuisance

1. There shall be no customer use of the external customer area to the rear side of the premises between the hours of 2100 and 0900 the following day.
Protection of children from harm
There will be no changes to the operating style or procedures of the premises as a consequence of the variation sought and therefore existing management practices and premises licence conditions save as varied by this application will continue to operate to promote the licensing objectives.
1. Children will be required to leave the premises by 21.30 unless they are eating a meal in which case they will be required to leave by 22.00.
2. Suitable food and non-alcoholic beverages shall be available at all times children are allowed on the premises.
Police Proposed Conditions
CCTV
The premises shall operate a CCTV system and the premises licence holder must ensure that:
- CCTV cameras are located within the premises to cover all public areas including all entrances and exits.
- The system records clear images permitting the identification of individuals.
- All recorded footage must be securely retained for a minimum of 28 days.
- The CCTV system operates at all times while the premises are open for licensable activities.
- All equipment must have a constant and accurate time and date generation.
- The CCTV system is fitted with security functions to prevent recordings being tampered with, i.e. password protected.
- There must be at least one member of trained staff at the premises during operating hours able to provide viewable copies on request to police or authorised local authority officers as soon as is reasonably practicable in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (or any replacement legislation).
Preventing underage sales
The Challenge 25 scheme must be operated to ensure that any person who appears to be under the age of 25 shall provide documented proof that he/she is over 18 years of age. Proof of age shall only comprise of:
- Passport
- Photo card driving licence
- EU/EEA National ID Card or similar document
- HM Forces warrant card
- Card bearing the PASS hologram
- Any electronic or biometric age verification technology approved by the Licensing Authority
The premises shall display prominent signage indicating that the Challenge 25 scheme is in operation.
The premises shall display prominent signage indicating that it is an offence to buy or attempt to buy alcohol for a person who is under 18 and for a person under the age of 18 to buy or attempt to buy alcohol.
A refusals record must be kept at the premises which details all refusals to sell alcohol. This record must include the date and time of the incident, the name
of the staff member who refused the sale, and the reason the sale was refused. All entries must be made within 24 hours of the refusal. The record must be
made available for inspection and copying within a reasonable time of
a request by an officer of a Responsible Authority.
Staff training (alcohol and vulnerability welfare)
All staff authorised to sell alcohol shall be trained:
- Relevant age restrictions in respect of products
- Prevent underage sales.
- Prevent proxy sales.
- Maintain the refusals log.
- Enter sales correctly on the tills so the prompts show as appropriate.
- Recognising signs of drunkenness and vulnerability.
- How overservice of alcohol impacts on the four objectives of the Licensing Act 2003.
- How to refuse service
- The premises ‘Duty of Care’ policy, understanding and dealing with situations involving vulnerable people, and incidents of harassment and how to report issues of modern slavery and trafficking.
- Action to be taken in the event of an emergency, including the preservation of a crime scene and reporting an incident to the emergency services.
- The conditions in force under this licence.
Training must include evidence that the trainee has gained knowledge and understanding of the training, which may consist of a test or quiz, completed by the trainee.
Documented records of training completed shall be kept for each member of staff. Training shall be regularly refreshed and at no greater than 6 monthly intervals. Training records shall be made available for inspection upon request by a police officer or an authorised officer.
Door Supervisors
Door supervision must be provided on Friday & Saturday evenings.
2 x Door supervisors must be on duty from 20:00 and must remain on duty until the premises are closed and all the customers have left.
Door supervisors shall be employed at the ratio of 2 door supervisors for the first 100 customers and another 1 for every 100 customers or part thereof.
All door supervisors, and other persons engaged at the premises for the purpose of supervising or controlling queues or customers, must wear high visibility jackets or vests with armbands.
Where SIA registered door supervisors are used at the premises, a record must be kept of their SIA registration number and the dates and times when they are on duty.
Any door supervisors on duty at the premises must be supplied by an SIA-Approved Contractor Scheme company.
Any requirement for SIA Door Staff other than Friday & Saturday to be on a risk assessment basis such as:
Music Festivals, St Patrick’s Day, Bank Holidays, last Friday before Christmas known as ‘Black Eye Friday’, Any showing of major sporting events including Boxing, Football (World Cup, European Championships, Premier League), Wrestling etc, or where there is information from Police where security is needed such as a wake, funeral or high tensions in the area and community.
DRUGS
A zero-tolerance approach to drugs will be promoted via appropriate signage in the premises. Any person found to be in possession of drugs must be reported to the police immediately upon being apprehended.
For the outside area specifically:
Plastic drinking vessels such as polycarbs must be in use.
There must be robust CCTV coverage of the area-including round the side of the premises.
Management must pay particular attention to this area in relation to any drug activity and regularly monitor.
Noise from the outside area must be monitored so as not to cause a nuisance to residents.
There must be no outside bar at any time.
Customers must be suitably dressed (ie no removal of tops in hot weather).
Customers with drinks must remain in the area and not spill over to the public pavement.
No vertical drinking - customers must be seated.
Minor Variation Feburary 2025
The application seeks to amend condition 1 under the “Protection of Children from Harm” heading of the premises licence to read as follows:
“Children will be required to leave the premises by 2130 unless they are eating a meal in which case they will be required to leave by 2200.”
The police consented to the amendment of the condition.
There are no other changes to the premises licence.
Full Variation Application May 2025
To vary the plan attached to the premises licence to include the following changes:
- Changing small external customer area to the front of the premises and incorporating it within the internal demise of the
premises.
The variation is to have effect upon completion of the works.
There are no other changes to the plan or premises licence.
Minor Variation August 2025
Conditions inline with the operational schedule:
The application seeks to amend the plan attached to the premises licence with the following
changes:
Cooled store relocated from first floor to ground floor;
Staff room relocated from ground floor to first floor; and
DDA lift to be installed in external customer area replacing the current proposed ramp.
There are no other changes to the premises licence.

Application for full variation Feburary 2026- granted.
The application is to amend the hours on the premises licence as follows:
Sale by Retail of Alcohol, Recorded Music:
Wednesday 0900 - 0100 (currently 0030)
Friday and Saturday 0900 - 0200 (currently 0100)
Late Night Refreshment:
Wednesday 2300 - 0100 (currently 0030)
Friday and Saturday 2300 - 0200 (currently 0100)
Opening:
Wednesday 0700 - 0130
Friday and Saturday 0700 - 0230 (currently 0130)
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday hours remain unchanged.
There are no other changes to the premises licence.
